WHAT IS MATCHA?

Matcha has been part of Eastern culture since as early as the 12th century. Chinese Monks enjoyed matcha to sustain hours of mediation and Japanese Samurai warriors drank matcha to energise before battle.

Its powdered form is the result of shade-grown green tea leaves which are deveined and finely ground. Its unmistakable green colour comes from the high chlorophyll content the leaves earn from their shaded location and enhances its concentration of nutrients.

  • Calm Energy

The amino acid L-Theanine mediates caffeine uptake, giving your system a clean and constant flow of energy without the jitters or crash. By stimulating the production of alpha brain waves the amino acid gives you an incredible ability to focus while keeping cortisol in check, helping you remain stress-free and in a good mood. It may just be the secret to why matcha is so good!

  • Loaded with Antioxidants

Matcha has 10x more antioxidants than traditional green tea. With 1384 antioxidants per gram it is more powerful than dark chocolate, wild blueberries and broccoli combined. The abundance of antioxidants and nutrients cleanses and detoxifies your body giving you a healthy glow while promoting brain, heart and gut health.

  • Boosts Metabolism and Immunity

Matcha's antioxidant content is made up of 60% catechin polyphenols – the most potent antioxidant. It supports your immune system and helps to fight inflammation. The combination of catechins and caffeine boosts your metabolism and promotes fat burning. Matcha is naturally low in calories and sugar, gluten-free and suitable for vegans.

  • Sustainably Sourced

Our Japanese Matcha is harvested from the first flush of leaves which have the highest levels of chlorophyll, giving matcha its vibrant dark green colour, and amino acids. The shading process further enhances its concentrations of antioxidants and nutrients including L-Theanine which maximise the detoxifying benefits and sweetens the taste of our matcha.

MATCHA VS COFFEE

Energy

Caffeine by itself can be tricky. Matcha, unlike coffee and other energy drinks, contains caffeine and L-Theanine. The amino acid combines with caffeine and slows down its release into the body. This promotes increased levels of focus and sustained energy for longer periods of time.

Matcha: Calm energy for 4-6 hours.

Coffee: Quick energy for 1-2 hours including the jitters and crash.

Mood

L-Theanine helps to relax alpha waves in the brain (linked to feeling happy and alert) and increases dopamine production. Both are considered "happiness" chemicals.

Matcha: Clear focus and concentration, calm alertness, relaxed and in a good mood!

Coffee: Anxious and hyperactive.

Health

Matcha: Powerful antioxidants promote brain, heart and gut health resulting in oral hygiene and improved digestion.

Coffee: Coffee is highly acidic with few antioxidants. High acidity can lead to stained teeth, bad breath and an upset stomach.
