Included in the set

30g Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha

Harvested in Uji, Kyoto, the birthplace of Matcha, our Ceremonial Grade Matcha comes loaded with antioxidants giving it the unmistakable vibrant green colour and the signature earthy flavours with sweet undertones. Savour this fine powder, ground from organic shade-grown tea leaves, to boost your energy, metabolism and mental focus.

Ingredients: 100% Organic Matcha Powder.

  • Organic Single Origin Okumidori
  • Flavour: Mild with sweet aftertaste, no astringency
  • Colour: Bright green

Whisk | 茶筅

A traditional Japanese tool, also known as chasen, made from a single piece of bamboo. Its 100 prongs allow for the best mix of matcha powder, water and air to create a frothy drink with a smooth texture and sweet aroma.

Tea Scoop | 茶杓

This stainless steel tool is used to transfer matcha from its container into a tea bowl. We included a modern version of the traditional chashaku to ensure that you scoop the right amount of matcha powder every time.

How to use

Add ½ tsp of matcha powder into a bowl. Gently add 75 mL (2.5 oz) of warm water at 80º C (175º F). Whisk until you see a perfect union of matcha and water. Once you begin to see an inviting green foam, your cup of goodness is ready. Enjoy hot, over ice or with your favourite milk.

Storage

We recommend to store your matcha in an airtight container in a cool, dark and dry place. Close the lid of your open tins and keep them in your fridge to maximise freshness.

  • Calm Energy

The amino acid L-Theanine mediates caffeine uptake, giving your system a clean and constant flow of energy without the jitters or crash. By stimulating the production of alpha brain waves the amino acid gives you an incredible ability to focus while keeping cortisol in check, helping you remain stress-free and in a good mood. It may just be the secret to why matcha is so good!

  • Loaded with Antioxidants

Matcha has 10x more antioxidants than traditional green tea. With 1384 antioxidants per gram it is more powerful than dark chocolate, wild blueberries and broccoli combined. The abundance of antioxidants and nutrients cleanses and detoxifies your body giving you a healthy glow while promoting brain, heart and gut health.

  • Boosts Metabolism and Immunity

Matcha's antioxidant content is made up of 60% catechin polyphenols – the most potent antioxidant. It supports your immune system and helps to fight inflammation. The combination of catechins and caffeine boosts your metabolism and promotes fat burning. Besides, matcha is naturally low in calories and sugar, gluten-free and suitable for vegans.

  • Sustainably Sourced

Our Japanese Matcha is harvested from the first flush of leaves which have the highest levels of chlorophyll, giving matcha its vibrant dark green colour, and amino acids. The shading process further enhances its concentrations of antioxidants and nutrients including L-Theanine which maximise the detoxifying benefits and sweetens the taste of our matcha.

Taste the difference

ALWAYS FRESH. Our shade grown matcha is never older than 6 months. It is sourced from a certified organic farm in Uji, Kyoto.

BRIGHT GREEN COLOR. The shading process helps increase the chlorophyll content in the leaves. This gives the leaves their unmistakable bright green colour and endows them with high concentrations of antioxidants and nutrients.

SMOOTH TASTE. After harvest the leaves are carefully deveined and ground to powder. This process removes the usual bitterness from the powder, making it one of the most delicious green teas out there.

Why Matcha Union?

Our matcha is always fresh, full-bodied with a smooth taste and bright green in color. It is ceremonial grade sourced from a certified organic farm in Uji, Japan. We regularly test our matcha to ensure it is radiation and heavy metal-free. It’s also vegan, gluten free, and non-GMO and free from any added sugars. Simply speaking Matcha Union matcha is clean and delicious.

How much caffeine is in 1 serving of matcha?

1/2 tsp = 40mg of caffeine (for beginners)

1 tsp = 80 mg of caffeine (for advanced)

We recommend using 1/2 tsp of matcha powder. This is equivalent to 1.5g when using our Perfect Matcha Scoop.

Can I switch from coffee to matcha?

Of course! Caffeine by itself can be tricky. Matcha, unlike coffee and other energy drinks, contains caffeine and L-theanine. The amino acid combines with caffeine and slows down its release into the body. This promotes increased levels of focus and sustained energy for longer periods of time.

L-Theanine helps to relax alpha waves in the brain (linked to feeling happy and alert) and increases dopamine production. Both are considered "happiness" chemicals. Along with having a relaxing effect on muscles and blood vessels, the amino acid promotes clear focus and concentration, calm alertness, relaxation, a good mood, and lower blood pressure. It may just be the secret to why matcha is so good!

Why not ditch coffee today for calm energy without the jitters, better breath, glowing skin and an improved metabolism?!

What does matcha taste like?

Our Ceremonial Matcha has a full-bodied smooth taste. Its signature earthy flavours with undertones of sweetness are best enjoyed with water only or with a splash of your favourite milk. If you like it sweet, we recommend maple syrup to complement its natural flavour.

How long does my matcha last?

Check the expiry date on your tins. We recommend using your matcha within one month of opening. With time you may notice changes in colour and taste as nutrients diminish. Its superfood benefits will not be the same.
