Ingredients (makes ~20 cookies)
-
120g butter (melted)
-
1 egg
-
100g sugar
-
250g flour
-
½ tsp baking soda
-
A pinch of salt
-
1–2 tsp premium matcha powder @matchaunion
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Dough
1️⃣ Melt the butter and mix it with sugar and salt in a large bowl until smooth.
2️⃣ Add the egg and mix well until fully incorporated.
3️⃣ Gradually stir in the flour and baking soda until a soft dough forms.
Step 2: Divide and Color
1️⃣ Split the dough into two equal portions.
2️⃣ Mix matcha powder into one half until fully combined and green in color.
Step 3: Shape the Flowers
1️⃣ Roll small balls of dough from each color.
2️⃣ Arrange 5–6 alternating color balls in a circle to form a flower shape. Use a smaller contrasting ball in the center for a “flower core.”
3️⃣ Gently press each flower flat to shape and secure it.
💡 Tip: You can also chill the dough for 30 minutes before shaping if it feels too soft.
Step 4: Bake
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
Place the cookies on a lined baking tray and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Step 5: Cool and Serve
Let the cookies cool slightly on the tray, then transfer to a wire rack. Enjoy warm or cooled with a cup of matcha or floral tea!
Optional Add-Ons
🌸 Sprinkle sugar or edible petals on top before baking for an extra whimsical touch
🍋 Add lemon zest for a bright citrus twist
🌿 Use a cookie cutter to create uniform floral shapes if preferred
