Iced Matcha

Use the recommended tools and follow our steps to make the perfect Iced Matcha.

  • Step 1

    Fill a glass with a handful of ice.

  • Step 2

    Add ½ tsp or one scoop of Matcha Union Ceremonial Matcha powder to a deep bowl using a spoon or chashaku. We recommend a spouted bowl for easy pouring.

  • Step 3

    Add approximately 1 tbsp of warm water to the bowl. Massage into a paste by applyinggentle pressure to your whisk until no lumps are left. Now add ⅓ cup of warm water to the bowl. Ensure that the water temperature doesn't exceed 80°C degrees to avoid burning the tea and a bitter taste.

  • Step 4

    Use the chasen to whisk vigorously in a 'zig zag' motion until smooth and frothy. The movement should be from your wrist and remain at the surface of the liquid.

  • Step 5

    Pour over ice and add ¼ cup of cold water for a classic Iced Ceremonial Matcha.

    Optional: Add your favourite sweeteners or make an Iced Matcha Latte by adding your favourite milk instead of ¼ cup water.

    Coconut Milk: sweet

    Oat Milk: rich

    Almond Milk: nutty
