Matcha Heart Thumbprint Cookies

When matcha meets strawberry… everything feels a little more romantic.
Buttery, soft, and lightly earthy with a sweet strawberry center — these little heart cookies are made for gifting, sharing, or keeping all to yourself.

🌿 You’ll Need:

  • 120 g melted butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150 g flour
  • 80 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp premium matcha powder @matchaunion
  • Strawberry jam

✨ Method:

1️⃣ Mix the base
In a bowl, whisk melted butter, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth.

2️⃣ Add dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, combine flour, powdered sugar, and matcha powder. Add to the butter mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.

3️⃣ Shape the cookies
Roll the dough into small balls and place on a parchment-lined baking tray. Gently press them down with your palm.

4️⃣ Create the hearts
Using a spoon or your fingers, press small heart shapes into the center of each cookie.

5️⃣ Fill with jam
Spoon strawberry jam into each heart. (Tip: warm the jam slightly if it’s too thick.)

6️⃣ Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10–12 minutes, until lightly set.

7️⃣ Cool & enjoy
Let cool slightly — then they’re ready to gift, share, or savor.


💕 Optional Touches:

  • Dust with powdered sugar for a soft finish
  • Add white chocolate drizzle
  • Swap strawberry for raspberry or cherry jam
