Taste the difference
ALWAYS FRESH. Our shade grown matcha is never older than 6 months. It is sourced from a certified organic farm in Uji, Kyoto.
BRIGHT GREEN COLOR. The shading process helps increase the chlorophyll content in the leaves. This gives the leaves their unmistakable bright green colour and endows them with high concentrations of antioxidants and nutrients.
SMOOTH TASTE. After harvest the leaves are carefully deveined and ground to powder. This process removes the usual bitterness from the powder, making it one of the most delicious green teas out there.

Why Matcha Union?
Our matcha is always fresh, full-bodied with a smooth taste and bright green in color. It is ceremonial grade sourced from a certified organic farm in Uji, Japan. We regularly test our matcha to ensure it is radiation and heavy metal-free. It’s also vegan, gluten free, and non-GMO and free from any added sugars. Simply speaking Matcha Union matcha is clean and delicious.
How much caffeine is in 1 serving of matcha?
1/2 tsp = 40mg of caffeine (for beginners)
1 tsp = 80 mg of caffeine (for advanced)
We recommend using 1/2 tsp of matcha powder. This is equivalent to 1.5g when using our Perfect Matcha Scoop.
Can I switch from coffee to matcha?
Of course! Caffeine by itself can be tricky. Matcha, unlike coffee and other energy drinks, contains caffeine and L-theanine. The amino acid combines with caffeine and slows down its release into the body. This promotes increased levels of focus and sustained energy for longer periods of time.
L-Theanine helps to relax alpha waves in the brain (linked to feeling happy and alert) and increases dopamine production. Both are considered "happiness" chemicals. Along with having a relaxing effect on muscles and blood vessels, the amino acid promotes clear focus and concentration, calm alertness, relaxation, a good mood, and lower blood pressure. It may just be the secret to why matcha is so good!
Why not ditch coffee today for calm energy without the jitters, better breath, glowing skin and an improved metabolism?!
What does matcha taste like?
Our Ceremonial Matcha has a full-bodied smooth taste. Its signature earthy flavours with undertones of sweetness are best enjoyed with water only or with a splash of your favourite milk. If you like it sweet, we recommend maple syrup to complement its natural flavour.
How long does my matcha last?
Check the expiry date on your tins. We recommend using your matcha within one month of opening. With time you may notice changes in colour and taste as nutrients diminish. Its superfood benefits will not be the same.
