Matcha Grid Cookies

Matcha Grid Cookies

A soft, buttery grid of vanilla and matcha? Yes yes yes.
These cookies are delicate, lightly sweet, and almost too pretty to eat — almost.

🌿 You’ll Need:

  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 230 g butter, softened
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 egg yolk (save the egg white for layering)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp premium matcha powder @matchaunion

🍪 Method:

1️⃣ Prep dry ingredients
Mix flour and salt in a bowl. Set aside.

2️⃣ Cream the butter
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy.

3️⃣ Add sweetness
Mix in sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until well combined.

4️⃣ Combine
Add the flour mixture and mix briefly until just combined.

5️⃣ Divide & color
Split the dough into two equal parts. Sift matcha powder into one half and knead gently until evenly green.

6️⃣ Chill
Shape both doughs into balls and refrigerate for 1 hour.

7️⃣ Roll out
Roll each dough between two sheets of baking paper into evenly sized rectangles. Trim edges neatly.

8️⃣ Create the grid
Layer vanilla and matcha dough alternately, brushing lightly with egg white between layers so they stick.

9️⃣ Stack & slice
Stack the layers to form your grid pattern, then slice into cookies.

🔟 Bake
Place on a lined baking tray and bake at 180°C (356°F) for about 13 minutes.

1️⃣1️⃣ Cool & enjoy
Let cool for 5 minutes — they’ll firm up as they rest. Then enjoy your buttery matcha masterpiece. 🤍

✨ Optional Touches:

  • Light dusting of powdered sugar
  • Dip half in white chocolate for contrast
  • Pair with an iced or warm matcha latte

Soft, buttery, and beautifully balanced — these Matcha Grid Cookies are part art project, part cozy bake. 💚🍪✨
